Today was a chance for us to meet our teachers, and get a briefing of the program and what is expected of us.
Having already taken Animation at Algonquin, I was not surprised to hear about the heavy workload and tight deadlines.
-When something is due at 8am, you hand it in at 8am. 8:05 = 50% off you grade, no matter how good it was.
They even discourage people from taking part-time employment. If you have to work, they say no more than 15hrs/week, or you will have trouble managing your assignments.
The fresh out of high school group seemed very concerned.
I still can't shake the surreal quality of it all. I am in school. I can no longer spend my nights playing video games, and watching movies. That will be hard to do the first week.
Looking back, I think my major fault when I was taking Animation, was that I was not willing to give up sleep for school, and I had a part-time job. I believe my work was not as good as it could have been had I been able to put more time in it.
This time, I have no job, and (maybe) I can forgo some extra sleep. . .
We shall see.
My goals for this semester: Get B's if not A's. Increase my drawing ability. Make friends/contacts (network, network, network)
Apparently we have a "field trip" to the Apple store coming up. What a wacky fall this should be.
