High expectations of a perfectionist

With less then 3 weeks left of school, I am trying to push myself as hard as I can.
Ideas must be concrete and exceptional. I want honors here people. I want extra responsibilities.
Actually, I was asked to help out the Journalism students with their student magazine.
They needed some illustrations, so I did one one and so did another classmate of mine.
The story I received was about Facebook. What people did to socialize before it's invention, yadda, yadda, yadda.

Here is my final piece for them; Done in Illustrator.
It was fun to design, and I think it came out kinda cute.
The final final piece has black outlines and the gradients are flat because Adobe Acrobat does weird things with gradient colours.
(for the newbs, gradients are the colours that fade from one colour to the next.)
I got my inspiration from Charlene Chua; an amazing illustrator who lives in Toronto.
I would love to do what she does; work from home, draw all day, that would be the life.

Typography; I normally do well in this class. I have a good idea and I can make it turn out like I want. For some reason, I could not get this assignment right.
I redid it 4 times, and the night before it was due, I redid it again. It shows.
I am not happy with this at all.
The assignment involved creating a poster to showcase a font. Any style as long as the font was the focal point and we did not use pictures; text only or shapes.
I had the idea of making a movie poster. I worked the wrong way around I think. I had the idea of the style and tried to find a font that fit the style, rather than choosing a font and making something regarding the font.
This piece is very weak, and I'm sure it will bring down my average in this class. :(
Graphic Design; Create a logo on the topic handed out in class. I got Amelia Earhart.
This logo took a long time to get 'right', but I think it works. I would tweak a couple of the thin lines to make them thicker, but that is about it.
We drew the logo in ink and then cut it out of construction paper. Then we designed a directional sign that pointed us to another thing associated with the original logo.
That is why there are 3 planes in a circle, it is supposed to be an air show sign.

Not bad overall. Good grades and still having fun. Final projects are in the works and then I will have one last blog entry for this semester.
